Role Overview:
The Assistant Farmhouse Manager will support the Farmhouse Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the packhouse. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of Farmhouse activities, meeting production targets, and maintaining quality standards. The position demands strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage staff, ensure compliance with export requirements, and improve productivity.
Key Responsibilities:1. Production Support:
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing daily production plans to meet targets.
- Ensure raw materials and packaging are prepared and available for daily operations.
- Monitor and support the team to meet quality, volume, and cost efficiency goals.
2. Team Management and Training:
- Supervise casual workers during shifts, providing direction, feedback, and performance improvements.
- Support training initiatives to develop employees’ skills in quality output and consistency.
- Assist in building a positive and productive team environment.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Support quality checks to ensure compliance with export standards and food safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate traceability records for production and rework, ensuring process compliance.
4. Reporting and Communication:
- Assist in preparing and consolidating reports, including supply, KPIs, budgets, and inventory.
- Communicate updates on anticipated and achieved export quantities to the commercial team.
- Support verification of invoices and packing lists for accuracy before dispatch.
5. Farmhouse Operations and Maintenance:
- Ensure the Farmhouse and equipment are maintained to food safety standards.
- Assist in identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cold chain management.
- Monitor and record waste management to ensure accurate reporting and timely removal.
6. Inventory and Materials Management:
- Regularly review and manage box inventory to ensure accurate tracking.
- Assist in maintaining inventory records for Farmhouse materials and supplies.
7. Support to the Farmhouse Manager:
- Act as a liaison between the Farmhouse Manager and the operational team, ensuring alignment.
- Provide input and assistance in the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement strategies.
- Step into leadership responsibilities during the Farmhouse Manager’s absence, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s/Diploma in Food Science, Food Processing, Food Biotechnology, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of managerial experience in a relevant work environment.
- Knowledge: Understanding of quality standards for produce, food processes, food laws, and cold chain management.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel).
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Experience: Previous managerial or supervisory experience is an added advantage.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible to work irregular hours, night shifts, and weekends when needed.
