Agri-FAAS Connect, a Digital Platform with Regional Irrigation Farming Hubs Empowering Agriculture Across Sub-Saharan Africa

AgriFAAS Connect integrates a digital platform with renewable energy-powered irrigation farming hubs to empower young people in Sub-Saharan Africa by improving productivity, providing market access, and fostering sustainable agriculture through training and job creation.

AgriFAAS Connect is Cure Technologies’ flagship product—an integrated solution that combines a digital platform with physical farm infrastructure -irrigation farming hubs. It’s a mobile and web application for managing farming activities and training for sustainable farming practices. 

The physical component consists of setting up a network of regional irrigation-supported farming hubs across 100,000 acres, designed to increase agricultural output and foster local job creation. This will enhance productivity, resilience, and income stability when ensuring all-year-round farming activities. This will position us for long-term success and sustainability in a rapidly changing climate and market environment.

The High cost of venturing into agribusiness, poses a challenge for young people considering farming as a career. This contributes to food shortages, high unemployment rates, urbanization, climate change, inequality among youth, and a lack of sustainable energy generation. Addressing these problems requires designing solutions to solve these global challenges.

Our mission is to implement a 100,000-acre irrigation farming initiative aimed at raising 10,000 agricultural leaders, thereby fostering job creation for 12,000 young people across Sub-Saharan Africa. This is important to us because it threatens the Livelihoods of Young People and Food Security hindering Agricultural Productivity. We are committed to designing solutions that address the  Sustainable Development Goals. (SDGs). 

Our Pilot farm Project in Bator

Since 2020 we have been working to find our fit to establish foundational sustainable farming hubs to serve as a source of raw materials for our food processing plant. This led us to start the farming project. In the first two years of operations, Cure Technologies Agribusiness has secured 100 acres of land for future development. We are actively cultivating some 12 acres of land for maize and cassava farms in the Volta Region as a pilot project while we seek to scale up. We are going to expand our arable land up to 2,000 acres by 2025 and hope to become a catalyst in Ghana’s agricultural development through large-scale mechanization, thereby reducing the country’s dependence on foreign food imports, creating local jobs and empowering local communities through training, education and profit sharing.

For our pilot project, we are implementing a mixed farming approach that combines the cultivation of maize and cassava. This innovative method allows us to grow both crops simultaneously in the same farming season, optimizing the use of our land and resources. By diversifying our crops, we aim to enhance productivity and resilience, ensuring a more sustainable agricultural practice.

Our Approach

Our business operations are in agricultural and technology-driven initiatives that revolve around establishing a network of 100,000 irrigated farms across Sub-Saharan Africa, supported by a digital platform that facilitates job creation, resource management, and leadership development in agriculture. The operations focus on four primary areas:

• Farming Infrastructure and Operations: Develop and manage irrigation farm projects across rural areas, leveraging sustainable practices and renewable energy. Farming hubs will act as knowledge-sharing, resource distribution, and community-building centres, with trained farm leaders overseeing local projects.
• Digital Platform for Management and Training: The core app supports efficient operations and training, connecting farmers, farm leaders, investors, and stakeholders. It features resource tracking, job matching, training modules, smart irrigation monitoring, financial tools, and community forums, all tailored to reduce agricultural costs, improve productivity, and enhance the skills of users.
• Job Creation and Leadership Development: Create direct employment opportunities by filling essential roles on farms and in support roles, while developing leadership in agriculture by training 10,000 farm leaders. These leaders receive specialized training to manage and expand local projects, ensuring sustainable growth and rural economic empowerment.
• Sustainability and Impact Monitoring: Integrate renewable energy sources (e.g., solar power) and sustainable farming practices to reduce environmental impact and costs. Monitor metrics on crop yields, employment, water use, and carbon footprint to ensure the initiative’s environmental and economic impact aligns with long-term goals.

Our Framework 

The AgriFAAS Connect Framework is designed to create a transformative impact on agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa by integrating technology, infrastructure, and training into farming operations. The framework consists of five core components that align with the project’s mission to address food security, climate resilience, and economic empowerment:

1. Infrastructure Development:
   AgriFAAS Connect establishes regional irrigation farming hubs, equipped with modern tools, renewable energy solutions, and efficient water management systems. These hubs are designed to optimise resource use and maximise productivity.
2. Digital Technology Integration:
   The framework incorporates an advanced digital platform, accessible via web and mobile apps, that provides farmers with real-time data on weather patterns, soil conditions, market prices, and crop management techniques. IoT devices installed on farms collect actionable insights to guide decision-making.
3. Capacity Building:
   AgriFAAS prioritizes training young women, men, and marginalized groups in climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness management, and the use of digital tools. These initiatives ensure a skilled and inclusive workforce for sustainable farm operations.
4. Market Access Facilitation:
   The platform connects farmers to buyers, cooperatives, and institutional clients. By creating direct linkages, AgriFAAS helps farmers secure fair pricing, reduce post-harvest losses, and access larger markets.
5. Climate Adaptation and Mitigation:
   The framework incorporates renewable energy, sustainable farming techniques, and water-efficient irrigation systems to enhance resilience against climate variability, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
