From Trading Produce to Growing It: Why We Moved Into the Field

We started in export and trade — moving Ghanaian agricultural products to international markets and helping processing companies reach buyers abroad. That work taught us something that changed our strategy: the constraint isn’t finding markets. It’s producing to the standard and volume those markets require.

What Export Experience Taught Us

  • Buyers need traceability — which farm, which inputs, which practices
  • Contracts demand reliable volume, not opportunistic surplus
  • Everything depends on verified farm data — records that survive an audit

So We Built the Supply Side

That’s why CTSG now invests at the farm gate. The AgriFAAS Farm Manager platform gives every farm a verified digital identity — GPS-mapped fields, input logs, financials, harvest and sales records — the exact documentation export and off-take markets pay premiums for. And the Tsiame Farm Hub, our 20-acre solar-irrigated production site in the Volta Region, doubles as an aggregation center: a place where smallholder outgrowers can consolidate produce that meets buyer specs.

The trade DNA is still in everything we do — we just decided to own more of the value chain, starting with the soil.
