Patience Kpeda – Agriculture Extension Officer & Stakeholder Engagements

Patience Kpeda is a dynamic force in Ghana’s agricultural sector, tackling the critical issue of grain storage with innovative solutions. As the Chief Technical Officer at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and co-founder of the Post-harvest Women Foundation, she is also the Ghanaian Chapter leader for the National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA.ORG), and Tammy International Women Empowerment in Agriculture Association. Patience empowers women to reduce post-harvest losses by promoting hermetic bags—an airtight storage solution that protects the grain from pests and moisture. This allows women, who handle most of the harvesting, to store their produce longer and sell at higher profits. Her foundation, Post-Harvest Women has distributed over 200 hermertic bags to rural women. Leveraging her deep understanding of Climate and Agriculture, She enrolled in Mastercard Foundation Bridge in Agriculture course. As a member of SANKOFA, She is serving as an implementation and communication advisor, bringing STREAM education to underserved and under-resourced urban, and rural communities and families.
In 2016, she was honoured as the Best Agriculture Extension Officer under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA). Throughout my years with MoFA, I have developed expertise in climate-smart agricultural practices, gained a deep understanding of farmer behaviour by prioritizing their needs, and advocated for reducing post-harvest losses. Her efforts have been focused on advancing the food security agenda.
